NICHICON CORPORATION has developed the GYB series of conductive polymer hybrid aluminium electrolytic capacitors which are guaranteed for 10,000 hours at 105°C. The high temperature, long life and high ripple current characteristics of the GYB series offers designers increased performance to meet the demand for more robust end products.
The GYB series of conductive polymer hybrid aluminium electrolytic capacitors can meet the high-temperature, higher ripple current and an extended life demands which are now found increasingly in the consumer electronics field and industrial machinery markets. Industrial equipment in particular often has a requirement for guaranteed up-time meaning higher reliability capacitors need to be specified which can cope with the high temperatures, high ripple currents and long life demands of these applications.
Conductive polymer hybrid aluminium electrolytic capacitors use conductive polymers and electrolytes for the electrolyte, this construction takes advantage of the conductive polymers’ characteristics of low-ESR performance and high heat resistance. The electrolyte also provides a function of oxide layer repair making these capacitors more reliable. The GYB series takes the design concepts of the previously released GYA series and optimises the film formation process of the conductive polymer by using an electrolyte with good compatibility to conductive polymers to give excellent tolerance to high ripple currents. This results in the GYB series being able to offer 1.2 to 1.4 times higher ripple current tolerance than the GYA series and along with an extended lifespan guaranteed for 10,000 hours in a 105°C environment.
The GYB series are housed in industry standard surface mount Chip packages from 6.3x5.8mm to 10x10mm sizes, voltages from 25V to 63V, capacitance values from 10uF to 330uF and an operating temperature range of -55°C to +105°C. The GYB series has low ESR down to 20mOhm and can handle ripple currents up to 2.5A depending on the part selected.
