Export Control Specialist

Wisbech, Cambridgeshire


As our company turnover approaches £100M, a new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Export Control Specialist to work closely with our quality, asset and sales teams. Primarily responsible for import and export processes, you will play a key part in ensuring ongoing regulatory compliance and provide expert knowledge, technical guidance and process support on all matters relating to compliance, and related regulations, including identification and mitigation of new or emerging compliance risk areas. In the role you will have oversight of all areas of regulatory compliance including defining, updating and maintenance of procedures throughout the organisation.

 

Key role responsibilities and duties:

  • Understanding of UK import/export regulations including the movement of Dual Use and controlled goods.
  • Identifying, communicating and implementing updates to import/export processes to the latest regulations.
  • Identify, and lead process improvement initiatives related to compliance processes.
  • Conducting internal audits on processes and systems to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Work with the Export Control Organisation (ECO) on compliance visits.
  • Compliance Training Program & awareness/communications coordination.
  • Maintaining all import/export documentation and records.
  • Identify and maintain records for all goods requiring import/export licences.
  • Liaise directly with suppliers and customers on issues related to compliance.
  • Actively promote and maintain compliance throughout the organisation.

 

Essential skills:

  • Level 3-4 Certificate in Customs Compliance.
  • Making import/export licence applications using the Department for International Trade SPIRE system where required.
  • Experience making entries on CDS / Chief customs system
  • Technical understanding of import/export control procedures (particularly UK regulations).
  • Generalist Compliance program experience.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills to provide a professional approach to both external & internal contacts.
  • Meeting deadlines, task orientated and prioritization.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work individually and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Candidates should have a proven track record in import/export compliance preferably within the electronics industry, however we are equally interested in applications from candidates in other industries with transferable skills.
