Three-phase inlet filter reduces both harmonics and EMI
By incorporating the line reactor into the filter housing, the company has created a particularly compact and cost-effective one-part solution, offering systems designers a unit which requires less space than traditional multi-part solutions and saves installation time. Typical applications for the high-performance filter include small-to-medium sized industrial and automation installations, and machinery areas with medium-to-high interference levels. FN 3400 is ideal for applications which require reliable suppression of both conducted EMI and load-generated harmonics. The line reactor within the unit is designed to meet typical 4% short-circuit voltage requirements and effectively limits in-rush current. The recently introduced mandatory harmonics standard EN 61000-3-2 (January 2001), is likely to encourage the rapid adoption of single-source solutions such as FN 3400. Three models are offered - 8A, 16.5A and 24A - each capable of operation at voltages up to 480VAC and frequencies of 50/60Hz at 50°C. Operational temperature range is -25°C to +100°C. The design of the new filter corresponds to European, North American and international standards.
