Panasonic releases stacked coin-type electric double layer capacitor with long life features

Panasonic has commenced production of their RF/RG series of stacked coin-type electric double layer capacitors, which have a guaranteed life of 2000 hours at 85°C - first in the industry.

Used in real-time-clock or memory back-up function of electronic equipment, coin-type electric double layer capacitors have been required to have a long life in addition to high reliability as applications expand. To meet the market demand, Panasonic has newly developed its original high-reliable material technology and commercialized the coin-type electric double layer capacitor with long life features.

Specification:

• Endurance 2000 hours at 85°C
• Capable of discharging current more than 1mA
• Capacitance 0.68F (RF series), 1.0F (RG series)
• Maximum operating voltage 3.6V (5.5V also available in RF series)
• Maximum internal resistance 20 ohm
• Category temperature range –25 to +85 degC
• Choice of vertical or horizontal mounting
• RG series offers compact body size of 19 x 6mm

Applications include:

• Back-up function of real-time-clock or memory of general electronic equipment (Thin type TVs, DVD recorders, Car audio systems, etc.)
• Industrial equipment (Servers, Industrial computers, Gas/Water/Power meters, Controllers, Machine tools, building control systems, etc.)
• Short-time motor driving or short-time LED lighting (such as open/close valve-operation of Water meters etc.)
