Murata have introduced the XRCGB series of economical, high-quality, compact surface mount crystal units that feature high resistance to impacts and stable supply
The Murata XRCGB series crystal units utilise a resin sealed metal cap and mono-lithic ceramic plate construction which provides greater robustness and resistance to impact vs. conventional crystal construction
Crystal Structure
The XRCGB series crystal units are extremely compact measuring just 2.0 x 1.6 x 0.7mm. Murata have performed testing with this package on a standard land pattern for the popular larger 3.2 x 2.5mm case size, the results of this testing show it is possible to use this more compact 2.0 x 1.6mm case size with the larger land pattern*. This compatibility adds an extra level of convenience as it does not require changes to the PCB layout or design, this is extremely useful where customers wish to keep the flexibility of two case size options on their BOM *Murata recommend customer confirms compatibility with their own PCB layout if they intend using the larger 3.2 x 2.5mm PCB layout.
The crystals are available in a range of standard frequencies from 16.000 to 50.000MHz, the XRCGB series have a load capacitance of 6pF and low ESR ranging from 50 to 200 Ohm depending on the frequency selected. Parts are available with a drive level of 300μW max. across the whole frequency range, this makes the crystals suitable for a wide variety of ICs. Frequency tolerance range is ±8ppm to ±45ppm and temperature stability is from ±10ppm to ±40ppm depending on frequency and series selected.
Standard operating temperature range is -30°C to +85°C or -40°C to +85°C with an optional wider temperature range of -40°C to +105°C also available on selected frequencies in consumer and industrial grade. Murata also have automotive grade crystal which supports -40°C to +125°C as a standard temperature range.
Key Features
The compact size and robustness of the XRCGB series makes them well suited to a wide range of consumer and industrial applications including wireless communication devices, IoT, wearables, healthcare equipment and portable instrumentation.
