STMicroelectronics ETP01 series of Ethernet protection devices compliant with ITU-T K20 / 21 and GR-108

The ETP01 series from ST has been designed to offer the best trade-off between surge current requirements and capacitance, to be compatible with a 100 Mbit/s data rate and to provide a protection level that avoids Ethernet transceiver damage.

The ETP01 series complies with the following standards:

  • IEC 61000-4-2: level 4
  • MIL STD 883E-Method 3015-7: class 3:
  • TELCORDIA GR-1089 Core: 100 A, 2 / 10 μs
  • ITU-T K20/21: 37.5 A, 5 / 310 μs
  • IEC 61000-4-5: 2 kV, 42 Ω, 48 A, 8 / 20 μs

The ETP01 series uses the crowbar solution, which offers the main advantage to withstand the surge current capability, keeping the capacitance low enough to be compliant with 100 Mbit/s debit rate

The devices are supplied in the SO-8 package.
