Omron have released tiny detector switches which are reliable and versatile

Omron has released the smallest detection switch on the market, an ultra small surface mount design featuring a unique mechanism for high contact reliability.

The Omron D3S measures 3mm x 3.4mm x 0.9mm making it ideal for miniaturised and lightweight applications. These include consumer and professional products such as mobile handsets, media players, digital still, video cameras and other devices. The detection switch can be used for sensing of status such as covers open or closed, or display flipped, and can automatically co-ordinate sophisticated modes and features.

The Omron D3S is available in left-side or right-side operation type and comes with or without a boss to aid positioning. Offering high durability greater than 100,000 operations, low operating force less than 0.3N, and two-way detection, product developers are allowed increased freedom to achieve sleek designs with high functionality.

Rated for sensing duties, the D3S withstands 1mA/5VDC. It achieves high shock and vibration resistance, obligatory for portable and handheld applications. The detection switch is specified for operation at temperatures from -25˚ to 85˚C and relative humidity up to 85%, allowing end user products to be sold into a wide range of global territories and markets.
