EMC filters: SineFormer series extended by EPCOS

The successful SineFormer™ series of EMC output filters has been extended by a range designed for applications up to a rated voltage of 760 V. The new B84143V*R290 spectrum of filters is available in current stages of 95 A, 180 A and 320 A.

Depending on their type, they are operated at clock frequencies from 2.5 kHz. Versions for 600 A and 1000 A are in preparation.

The SineFormer technology means that shielded motor leads are unnecessary and bearing currents significantly reduced. Compared with the use of shielded lines, savings in system costs already begin from a lead length of less than 100 m.

Because the SineFormer filters differ from their conventional sine-wave counterparts by dispensing with shielded lines, breakeven can already be reached from about 25 m. To this must be added the significant technical benefits of this technology such as an IP 20 package, noise reduction and no feedback to the DC link circuit.

Typical applications are crane installations, pumps, HVAC, retrofitting of existing equipment for converter operation, and all applications using long shielded motor leads.
