New waterproof switch comes under Omron’s umbrella

Omron has added a new waterproof tactile switch. The new B3SL is a compact, high quality device featuring IP64 sealing and a rubber plunger that gives a high quality tactile feel to the operator. Ideal for consumer white goods and computer peripherals, these switches are just 6.2mm square and 5.1mm high.

Supplied in a single pole, single throw contact configuration, B3SL switches are surface mounting, with J-bend style SMD board terminations. They are suitable for switching loads of up to 50mA at 12 VDC – and are designed for use at temperatures between -30 and +85°C. The B3SL is suitable for wave soldering.

Omron offer a very wide range of tactile switch devices, including the B3F series of 6 x 6mm and 12 x 12mm square models in surface mount and through-hole form. All have positive click action and variations include horizontal and vertical, flat and projected types as well as versions with a high operating force and a long-life version, designed for 10 million operations. For space-challenged applications, Omron B3U switches are the industry’s smallest tactile switches, with a size of only 1.2mm x 3mm x 5mm. They are available in top and side actuating form, and offer a sealed construction to ensure high reliability in dust-laden environments.
