STMicroelectronics introduces offline driver for RGGB LEDs
The STEVAL-ILL019V1 evaluation board is an LED driver specifically designed to control 4 independent LED strings, either white or RGGB. It targets applications like interior, decorative and street lighting for a total power up to 42W (for European Mains) or 32W (for Wide Input Mains).
The reference design comprises of a 2-stage isolated solution: the input stage performs power factor correction (controlled by an L6562A transition-mode PFC) and generates a 48V bus where 4 independent DC-DC modules control LED string current. These DC-DC modules regulate LED current from the maximum level of 350mA down to a dimmed brightness lower than 1%, without flickering effects.
