Hirose launch high current capacity, IP67 waterproof circular connector with bayonet locking for three-phase power supplies
To meet with the increased demand for high powered connectors offering advanced reliability for industrial equipment, Hirose have introduced the EM range, comprising of plugs and receptacles that have the capacity to handle 50 Amps current rating.
The innovative connector design incorporates three 50A power contacts and one ground contact. The contacts are arranged in sequence to ensure the ground contact is connected before the power contacts during the mating process. A special spring in the receptacle connector connects the ground contact to the metal shell for reliable panel grounding. A further benefit is a special protective cover over the female contacts that minimises the exposure of the contact area, which could be easily damaged. Termination of the crimp contact is quick and easy using standard JIS crimping tools. A contact removal tool is available to quickly remove the contact from the housing.
Waterproof protection is guaranteed with special gaskets strategically placed at each connection point of the connectors in the mated condition. The high water-resistance performance meets with IP67 allowing the EM series to withstand submergence in 1.8m water for 48 hours in its mated condition.
As with all Hirose connectors, a user friendly design has been incorporated. EM35 has five polarizing keys in the mating face to ensure correct mating positioning and stability against vibration.
The special one touch bayonet locking mechanism securely locks the mated connectors quickly and easily. This works by turning the outer collar on the plug with a clockwise quarter turn to mate the connector and a quarter turn counter clockwise to disconnect. Correct mating is confirmed with an audible tactile click.
The plug and receptacles are available with 3 power contacts and 1 ground contact that can accept male or female crimp contacts. A cord clamp and connector removal tool is available from Hirose.
Ideal applications are three-phase power supply equipment for factory automation, generators, fuel batteries and other industrial equipment.
