AVX's new 2-piece vertical plug connector provides highest temperature range available
AVX has developed a low pin count, vertical 2-piece connector for commercial and industrial applications. The 9159 Series of robust 2-piece board-to-board (BTB) connectors were originally developed for the harsh environments of linear solid state lighting (SSL) with coplanar PCB mating. These connectors have been tested to 1000 hours at 125ºC, versus competing products that are only tested to 105ºC. Providing a 5A current rating with a pin count of 2 thru 6 positions, the low profile 9159 Series connector features a gold-plated BeCu contact system that delivers higher signal and mating integrity than tin contact systems.
The vertical 9159 Series provides perpendicular PCB mating, which satisfies a more traditional PCB interconnect scheme typically used in standard commercial and industrial applications.
In addition to solid state lighting fixtures, the 2-piece vertical plug 9159 Series connector is well-suited for portable applications, including handheld terminals, scanner, instrumentation meters, patient monitoring devices and industrial electronic modules/controls.
"The new vertical 9159 Series connectors expand the company's existing connector product offering to meet challenging new applications where size and performance is critical to system performance in harsh industrial environments," said Tom Anderson, Product Manager for AVX. "The 9159 Series connectors not only offer the widest variety of applicable uses, but also provide superior reliability and the highest temperature range available on the market."
The 9159 Series connectors have an operating temperature range of -40ºC to +125ºC. These connectors are supplied in tape and reel packing and are RoHS-compliant.
