New, ultra-miniature tuning inductor from AVX features exceptionally tight inductance tolerances, high Q, and high current capability

AVX has developed a new, ultra-miniature thin film tuning inductor for its Accu-L® SMD inductor series, which is unique in its ability to offer very low inductance values (0.33nH) and ultra-tight tolerances (±0.05nH). Featuring a standard 0201 chip size and inductance values ranging from .33nH to 3.3nH, the new, ultra-miniature tuning inductor is particularly well suited for antenna tuning circuits in cellular applications.

“Our Accu-L® inductors meet the performance and tolerance requirements for both present and future cellular frequencies,” said Larry Eisenberger, senior marketing application engineer at AVX, “and, with the addition of our new 0201 chip size tuning inductor, we have significantly expanded the number of applications that can incorporate and benefit from our proven technology.”

In addition to the new 0201 chip size, Accu-L® SMD inductors are also available in standard 0402, 0603, and 0805 chip sizes. All Accu-L® series inductors feature high Q and high current capability at VHF, UHF, and microwave frequencies, as well as high SRF, low DC resistance, and ultra-tight inductance tolerance. The series also features lead free terminations and rugged construction for reliable automatic assembly, and is rated for use in temperatures ranging from -55° to +125°C.

Ideal applications for AVX’s Accu-L® SMD inductor series include mobile communications, satellite TV receivers, vehicle location systems, GPS, wireless LANs, and filters.
