Eaton introduces the new C308F fuse series designed for use in hazardous environments
Eaton has introduced the C308F Series of fast-acting, ceramic tube fuses for intrinsically safe requirements in hazardous environments. Key attributes of this series of circuit protection devices make them ideally suited for network safety barriers and other equipment used in mines, oil drilling structures, gas stations, gas meters, chemical refineries and hazardous material transportation.
Intrinsic Safety (IS) is a low-energy signaling technique that prevents explosions from occurring by ensuring that the energy transferred to a hazardous area is well below the energy required to initiate an explosion.
The ceramic tube, silver-plated brass end cap construction of the series meets standards (EN60079-11) for explosive environments and delivers high interrupting rating for primary and secondary circuit protection up to 250 volts AC or DC and 250mA. These fast-acting C308F fuses (10ln in 2ms) have a high breaking capacity of 4,000 amps in a compact 3x8.4mm size and can go through reflow solder with no degradation in specifications.
The C308F Series can be used in intrinsically safe simple devices defined according to ANSI/ISA-RP12.6 (<1.5V, <0.1A, <25mW during operation) such as contactors, thermocouples, LEDs, non-inductive potentiometers and resistors. They can also be used for non-simple devices such as transmitters, transducers, solenoid valves, and relays.
