HIROSE introduce the CX Series of Compact USB 3.1 Type-C Compliant Interface Connectors, samples available from Anglia

HIROSE, a leader in the design and manufacture of innovative connector solutions, has developed a mid-mount USB 3.1 Type-C receptacle with an efficient design that offers a compact footprint to save valuable board space.

The CX series features a depth of only 8.35mm, the shorter design creates additional board space for optimizing antenna designs and space for larger batteries. By comparison, conventional Type-C connectors are significantly longer, up to 9.4mm, which uses valuable board space.

The CX series connector features a hybrid design and utilizes both surface-mount and through-hole soldering to minimise the board mounting space needed. The design also facilitates automated optical inspection and eases reworking of the solder terminal joints with a visible lead design.

The CX series receptacle is user-friendly and features a symmetrical mating face to allow insertion of a reversible plug to prevent incorrect insertion, the connector is USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C compliant and supports 5Gbps for high-speed applications.
